Feel like an Olympian at the Chicago Marathon

Plus: How to Support the Runners in Your Life

Lace up your sneakers and run the Chicago Marathon.

If you tuned into the Paris Olympics this summer (and who didn’t?!), there’s at least SOME chance that you felt inspired to get off your couch and try your hand at an Olympic sport. Badminton, cycling, long jump—the world of sports is your oyster.

But if you want to get a taste of the electric energy and epic-ness of what the athletes at the Paris games experienced, why not lace up your sneaks and sign up for the Chicago Marathon? Even better, sign up to run for a charity, so every step goes toward a bigger cause .

Train for the half marathon in Chicago this fall.

With plenty of time between now and October 13, you could successfully train for a half marathon even if you haven’t gone trotting in a while. Here’s an 8-week plan that eases into things with a three-mile run.

(If you’re in more of a couch-to-5k place in life, you can still run in Chicago on October 12!)

Either way, feel free to treat yourself to some Olympian level new gear

And if you’re really more of a supporting character? Awesome! You can be the Snoop Dogg to the marathon runner in your life.
